Final blog

"The heroes journey is a journey into the center of yourself"
I honestly have no idea what this means but i have to write about it. I think that this is true for both Luke and Darth Vader because they are supposedly heroes and they have been through a lot. And going through everything and all of the challenges have shown them who they really are. So the journeys that they have been through are also journeys to figuring out who they really are. I think that although this is only a movie, it shows how true life is.People go through difficult challenges and situations that they think they cannot overcome just so it can lead them to figure out who the 'real' them is. And i think thats what Luke and Darth Vader had to do. They had to choose in big situations and make the right choices, they had to pick who they could and couldnt trust and go with their gut feeling sometimes when they didn't know the right answer. And thats exactly what you have to do in real life. I know in the past year i've had to make decisions that i had no idea what to choose, i've been faced with situations that i thought i couldnt handle, but i did. I really screwed up a lot of those times, unlike Luke and Darth Vader, but there in a movie so everything is suppose to work out for them, real life doesnt work that way. But im starting to figure out who i can trust, who i cant, who my real friends are, if the decisions i made are going to work out, and you could say it's kind of like a journy to the center of myself. Im learning things about me that i didnt know and im learning who i am, which is what happend with Luke and Darth Vader.

community service

For Community service I chose to do 3 different things. I worked a booth at the Harvest Festival at Happy Valley Elementry school, was a member of Link Crew for WVHS and also worked on the varsity softball field. Each of these things were entirely different but each of them taught me something meaningful. In the beginning, I wasn't excited about having to do 20 hours of community service, but as I volunteered my time, and now looking back on it, im glad that it was required. It showed me the importance of volunteering and how helping people can truly be rewarding.
The Harvest Festival is an event that i went to when i was younger. It's on Holloween and there are booths, games, prizes, costumes, cake walks, contests and, of course, candy. It's a family event for kids and their parents. I helped Karri Westaby with her booth. It was a volleyball/ basketball booth. I took tickets from the kids and gave them candy. I arrived there early to help set everything up and stayed after to clean up and put everything away. It was cool to see a new generation of kids there because it use to be me and my friends playing the same games and having just as much fun as all of them were.
For my senior year i wanted to be involved in as many extra activities as i could. Me and my friends decided that we wanted to be part of Link Crew and help the incoming freshman. A week before school started, we went in for training. We learned the games that we would play with them and how to talk to them and what to teach them. It was really cool because i remember when i was a freshman and i got to meet my Link Leaders. I looked up to all of them because they were seniors. Now that im a senior, i get to be the one that helps everyone out. I got to meet all different types of freshman that i probably never would have met if i never got involved in Link Crew.
Ive been playing softball since i was a little kid. It's somthing that i love and my life revolves around it. So helping out at the WVHS softball field was more enjoyable for me than anything else. I put up all of the sponsor signes that surround the fence, i dug around the baselines to remove the grass from them. Shortstop has terrible bumps on it, so i leveled that out. I raked by the bleachers and the area we warm up batting. It was a lot of work but when your playing a home game on a field that looks as good as it turned out, your proud to host other schools there. It also makes you appreciate your field more and take better care of it because it's the work that you did.
All of these things taught me lessons that i can carry on with me throughout life. Working at the Harvest Festival taught me how to be dependable. It taught me to be early to things that i am going to and not to leave untill i get the job done. It taught me how to work with the public. Being a member of Link Crew taught me my biggest lessons out of the 3 things. It taught me how to help other people. To be patient with them and to help them without expecting anything in return.Working on the softball field taught me to take care of things that are mine. The softball field is somthing that belongs to our team, and taking care of it makes me realize that i need to to take of the things that i own.

PAKISTAN SCHOOL

People not caring about schoolinPakistan is goingto effect a lot of people. It says most people drop out by 5th grade. How are they ever going to make a living when there older? How will they be able to get a good paying job? They wont, because they'll barley be able to read and write. And thats just boys. Most girls wont even be going to school let alone college. The only people able to go to school are the ones that can afford to send their kid out of the country, which is not that many people.
So i think that in the end, them not really caring about education funds and making school mandatory, is going to screw them over. The kids are the future of this country and if there not getting an education how dumb will their country be? They need to put a little more thought into it.

star wars

In Star Wars, Luke skywalker is the Hero of the movie. His helpers are Han- solo, r2d2, c3fo, and Princess Lea. His Mentore is Obe-wan-kanobe. In the beginning of the movie, Luke doesnt want to save Princess Lea. He doesnt know much about her and he would rather her die than him. But when he hears that she is worth a lot , and he would be getting more then he could imagine if he saved her, he decided to take one for the team and just do it. As their journey kept going, he didnt just see her as somebody he had to save anymore, he started to like her. They both started crushing on eachother. There related, but they dont know it yet.
So anyways, he saves her and they go back to where they came from and everythings good, for now. So by the end of the movie he changed because he becomes more compassionate, nice, stronger and just all the way around, more of a hero.

Family's Fight

This family should defenitly win their legal battle. Pictures like this should have never got out to anyone. The accident was so bad the family was not even allowed to look at it, but millions of people saw these pictures before the family even knew about them. News shows and newspapers arn't even allowed to show these pictures so i dont think that they should be on the internet for millions of strangers to just look over them. Especially for the family, it's a huge tragedy. It was a terrible thing to just have to deal with the accident, but all of this has made their life change drastically. These are personal photos and theres no taking back whats already been done. Even an apology wont change anything. It should have never happend. It says that the family was going through problems with their daughter, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor at age 8, that made her do things she couldnt control, or made her act out without thinking. She then got into cocaine and they think part of it had to do with her brain problems. The day she stole her dads porche and crashed it, she still had cocaine in her system from the last day. She made a mistake, but that doesnt mean that something like this should have ever happend to her or her family. Someone even made a fake myspace of her and said terrible things about her. Someone emailed her dad with the terrible picture and wrote 'woohoo daddy, im still alive' . Like what kind of person would do that. And just think how that must of effected her dad. None of that would of happend if those pictures didnt get out or wernt allowed on the internet.

Earth Day

I agree with the writer of this article. I think that Earth Day is probably an important day because it helps us take care of the world that we live in, but i dont think that people no about it enough. I didnt even no today was earth day. And i dont know what your suppose to do on earth day, so i think we should have more then just an 'Earth Day'. I think that we need to have more days and we need to talk about it more and understand what earth day really is.

The 8 things not to learn in school

Of the 8 things not to learn in school i think that at some point in my life i have expirienced all of them. The one that i am most familiar with would be happy with only getting a 70% on my work. All of my years in school, highschool ecpecially, Ive been content with getting a c on my work. In school, ive always tried hard enough to pass. to get average test scores, average grades, i never really studied for days before a test so i can get an A on it. Ive always just kind of did enough work to get by. But on sports, ive always put in extra work, extra practice. Ive always worked harder then everyone else. So i dont think that this "lesson" of only needing to do 70% has stuck with me. It's just that i apply all my effort to the things that i find important. I happen to find sports the most important thing in my life, which is why i spend so much time on them. In the future, of course im going to put that much effort into my job because it's going to be something i find important.
